Old School!

it is not the first commercial addition to the paid side

Anyone remember this earlier incident regarding ads visible on the paid site?

Humble question, Brad, since while cruising SI, I just had a banner ad pop up, should I assume that SI has changed policy, and you are busy eating these words of a promise you made, in the message to which I am responding?

(3) We will not bombard you with banner advertising or other forms of solicitation. Specifically, banner ads will not be placed in the message boards for members (If we do, you will have the ability to turn them off).

Sure as hell hope it was just some kind of a wierd fluke!!!

Cheers,

Svejk

Brad's response was classic Old School!

Josef,

It was a 20-second glitch. I was changing the ad engine from my homegrown one to a commercial one.

I forgot to tell the computer "if the page is requested by a member, then don't display an ad." Horrified, I quickly rectified the problem.

I guess you could say that, for 20 seconds, we went back on our promise and bombarded you with ads...but it certainly wasn't intentional.

Brad

Soooo... Brad didn't just promise it once. He promised it twice!

Unfortunately, he hasn't peeped about it to anyone since.

I say give us the opportunity to disable this feature, or many of the lifers will leave.

Bring back the Old School!!!

Perhaps Josef said it best back then...

Humble thanks, Brad, glad to see that in this world of broken promises, yours stand!!!

All the best to ya!

Cheers,

Svejk
