That's a good one, no one put that up, June is the month.

Doing a little back surfing. In light of QWST plans for US WEST and the recent press release between CSCO and QWST - DSL takes on a little more importance.

Qwest Makes $15M DSL Investment

Next-generation carrier Qwest Communications International continues to put together the pieces of its local access strategy.
Earlier today, the company announced a $15 million investment in Rhythms NetConnections, the Englewood, Colo.-based supplier of business data services based on Digital Subscriber Line technology. Through the investment, Qwest secured a multiyear agreement for DSL connectivity in 31 major metropolitan markets.
Qwest plans to roll out DSL service for businesses in Austin, Texas; Chicago; Detroit; Los Angeles; New York; , Phoenix; Portland, Ore.; and San Jose by the end of the year.
The agreement with Rhythms is part of Qwest's strategy to create an end-to-end service offering by purchasing or partnering with local access providers and combining those local infrastructures with the carrier's nationwide fiber backbone. By combining the local access rights acquired with the Rhythms agreement with previous deals, Qwest plans to offer high-speed local access in more than 35 markets. That sort of coverage will give Qwest direct access to about half the businesses in the U.S., according to Qwest officials.
In related news, Rhythms today announced an initial public offering of 9,375,000 shares of common stock priced at $21 per share; all shares are offered by the company.
