(1) Yup I sure did! I was surprised it took so long! Interestingly the Masters of the Universe took out only the '//ot' message where I alluded to my lack of interest in PMs and how I don't like to advise people about stock picks without an understanding of their risk tolerance. I'm sure more have been dumped. But I have not checked. The suspension of posting 'privileges' (excuse me while I puke) takes place quiet quietly. I wanted to post something about LSI revs and then ooh lah lah I get a grey screen with a couple of lines in red saying that I have been suspended from posting till...

BTW do you get a 'sponsored by Datek' message on the message boards now? I'm pretty sure I did not see this before. Maybe that is a 'perk' I lost? Or is something else going on?

Anyway the only tangible asset these people have is the quality of the people who post. Initially it was great because it was the only board in town and all the people who came in for 'free' were a sizable resource. But no more. This initial number has dwindled and not enough new people have joined to make up the delta. Add on the problems with company personnel posting or the lawsuits against the posters themselves by the companies and there will be fewer and fewer. The problem with the net is that one asset that company A considers valuable, company B will give away for free because company B considers something else valuable. So Motley Fool does not require you to register or pay(?), neither does Yahoo or RagingBull.com (?) or whoever else. In time this means that this 'privilege' will mean nothing. For the most part it already is.

(2) Because the personal attacks were particularly vindictive, vicious, vituperative, and venomous. You're right though - I clearly fell in. But still he showed how little he knows of the basics. Besides my leg's hurt and I could not go out to do something better! Now it is better so I will be gone.

(3) Only for Tweedle Dumb to hum...

This was what I had wanted to post. LSI's rev. distribution at least in segments that listed top suppliers per a semi-survey (it's on techweb somewhere) [all are 1998 as reported by the company revenues]:

Std. Cells: ~ 1,195 million
Gate Arrays: 275 million
Embedded MPUs: 125 million

Plus:
Storage Systems (mine): 150-180 million.

which leaves about 90 mil unaccounted for.

The key is (and has been) the percentage of revenues that come
from very high volume products. I am trying to figure out how
much comes from ASSPs. A little birdie tells me LSI's success in the consumer arena + Symbios product lines translate into a larger than expected piece coming from ASSPs. The question is how much...
