China--In China and many eastern cultures, formal introductions are infinitely important. Your whole future in the relationship can be colored by current standing of the person introducing you. Jacobs is clearly well acquainted with ?(escapes me) the head of Loral through their G* venture. The head of Loral, no matter what your political opinion of his "illegal" technology transfer to China, must now have the highest standing in China's ruling circles and their technological arena. It is but a small leap to assume that this man has given Irwin Jacobs, self made man, one of the most honestly glowing personal introductions in all of history. You better believe this really counts in China! My conclusion, with a high confidence level, is that Qcom will get every break in China and Q will become, perhaps the leading political player in China's CDMA venture--despite the fact that they currently build no infrastructure equipment.

Who will give Chris Galvin, the apparent IRID screw up, a glowing personal introduction.

I think Q will overcome Clinton's accidental bombing if the China embassy. I can see why China finds it incredible that the worlds prominent military tech giant could have such a dumb accident.

It is a stretch, but have you noticed how involved the President of Finland has been in Kosova and shuttling off to China to talk about Kosova. Didn't I hear rhat tiny Finland would be sending some forces to Kosova. This has to have something to do with trying to defend NOK's China franchise.
