If you think one of them is bad, try an entire assembly room full of them. I went to Governor Gilmore's inauguration a couple of years ago, we did the whole thing, ball and all, and I bought tickets to the Prayer Breakfast, telling Chris he had to see one of these things, he wouldn't believe it. They had a speaker who was hitting the same theme, America was founded as a Christian nation and must get back to its roots. He was saying that America is an experiment by God to found a truly moral nation, and that God had given up on the rest of the world, so it was up to us. There were a couple thousand Republicans in there, mostly religious right, and they just went ape. Only a few dozen that I saw who didn't like what they were hearing. I used to be a delegate to the Fairfax Republican Committee, I quit because the Religious Right people were just driving me nuts. And now I've heard that the new Chairman is fighting them, so maybe I'll try to rejoin.
I believe we may see armed combat in this country over the abortion issue in the next century. They don't admit it publicly, but that's the real agenda. They can see no other way to get rid of abortion but to take over the government. It's not just about words and ideas. |
