I guess we still like to stroll around in shopping malls,
kicking tires on used autos, feeling the texture on clothes.
If ecommerce takes over, the whole structure of city cores
and personal activities may be changed.

One woman to the other:" Oh, I found the most exciting little
French boutique yesterday"
The other woman:" What's the URL?"

Per, I disagree a little, the whole problem prior to the web for catalog retailers etc. for cpg has been merchandising related. Example the new drugstores are one of the hottest e-tailers now, in order for catalog sales of drugstore goods to work you would need 500 pages or so, constantly updated. Pricing would be impossible in the cpg area. Groceries are the same way.... an online catalog is required to sell these goods. I maintain there is little or no feel-good shopping experience from visiting your nearest drugstore or toystore. But that didn't mean that in the past I was going to order from a catalog.
