Irrational premises? There is a difference between premises that are disputable, and premises that are irrational. But to take the doctrine of Original Sin, it is one of the most sensible doctrines in Christianity, regardless of the character of the tale of origin. The more scientific way to put it is that there is a tension between the more primitive portion of our brain, and the rational portion of our brain, and therefore we have a propensity to do things that we know are a bad idea. The evidence for the doctrine is compelling, if not conclusive:-)...
