Ditchdigger, You Are 100% Wrong! "Short Against the Box" is not the same as a "Short Sale". It is used mostly to end the up-ward and down-ward price of your stock! If you "Short Against the Box" you do NOT make money as the stock price drops! You must be "Short" someone else's stock and buy back or "Cover"! In the Case of "Short Against the Box" you can use this as a tax strategy to increase your holding period. You "Deliver" at a later date to extend your holding period! Or, you "Cover" or buy back your shares and make money on the way up! Basic Trading 101!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best, Ed P.S.
