Network-attached storage to skyrocket

While today's storage industry buzz is centered almost exclusively on storage-area networks (SAN), users shouldn't over look the value of network-attached storage (NAS), some analysts say.

IDC released a report today that stated the NAS market "will skyrocket'' from $540 million in 1998 to $5.1 billion by 2003, representing an annual growth rate of 54%. Gray said that compares with an overall storage market growth rate of 11% per year.
