I see you have little to gnaw on while I am absent. Here's a bone to worry:

Let's assume that all of Darrell's sources on the sexual misconduct of Clinton are essentially true - from the serial rapes beginning in college to the fondling of Ms. Wiley. One day, he knew himself as a repeat rapist. [Point to whatever forces create such behavior: round-heeled mother, absent dad, abusive and alcoholic step-dad, country poverty, peer group backwardness, or Arkansas society ignorance.] He came to himself, and knew the evil. At the same time he was achieving highly in other areas, eventually leading into politics. All his achievement can only be credited to himself and free luck - with no help from any other source: no family, no organization, no government, no mentor, no wealth, no connected friends.

Between that self-conviction and when he enters national consciousness, he has left his raping, left his adultery, left his gross come-ons to appealing strangers, and remains sexually deviant only by a continuing titillation between friends and willing partners.

Severing a repeat sexual criminal from his habits, ever, is acknowledged as beyond the ability of civilization. What brought these nearly unheard of changes in Clinton's activities without professional help, legal punishment, or, apparently, knowledge by his wife, friends or public ? The only explanation is his own character.

There are those who would serve themselves, rather than intellectual honesty and realistic accuracy, by seeking to make character a matter of a nice destination or a pretty journey. I hope you have the guts to admit character is instead about distance traveled, resistance encountered, and internal motivation. In the lives of modern Americans, there are few, if any, better examples than Clinton of the force of character making so long, so hard a journey away from the heinous and toward the good.

What is additionally interesting is he apparently used the technique of allowing himself to believe in and abide with the ancient, strict definition of adultery - no extra-marital intercourse - to redirect the black forces that he found in himself into non-hurtful activities. This very technique, that reformed a sexual predator into an inoffensive transgressor of mores, is ridiculed by those who take reading another's character to be as simple a task as sharing a few isolated facts from sources with questionable motive.

You have never acknowledged that you gave up legal justification for criticizing Clinton's legal behavior in our posts. [posts with Neocon through: Reply #12427] So, whether you ignored or skipped that demonstration, I have undercut another leg upon which your hatred depends.

PS: What did Reagan ever stand to lose in the fire of tempering his character?
