Hi Tom,

I do not believe for one minute that Russ was being angry or sarcastic in that statement. Not at all his MO.

I do believe, however, that he was making a solid statement of his intention to honor Brad's promise that there will be no BANNER ads on SI members' pages.

I've read all of the discussion/arguments as to whether the Datek ad is a link or a banner. It appears that SI's position is that it is NOT a banner ad, and I agree. Whether or not you agree is entirely your decision, of course, but if you read Russ' response with his belief that the Datek ad is NOT a banner ad, then you would not see sarcasm, IMO. It's a matter of differing points of reference, I guess.

I also can't imagine that there was much if any arguing regarding the ads among SI/Go2Net. Again, (how many times can I say this?? LOL!) I truly believe that no promises were broken and that they were and have been working nonstop to implement changes which sometimes have bugs when they're finally rolled out. The reason that GNET and SI have been so incredibly successful in such a short period of time is largely due to the tremendous working relationship between all employees. There appears to be a diversity of talent and leadership, and a lot of mutual respect among the players.

Not sure I can say as much for this thread anymore! <gg>

Best to You,
V.
