Ah, touched a nerve there.

In fact, I do not believe in the Biblical story of creation. I am probably as far from fundamentalism as it is possible for any person of faith to be, although I know that doesn't matter to you because if you actually believed me you couldn't enjoy the pleasure of flinging the accusation of fundamentalism as a weapon, as you did the accusation of paranoia.

Please note that I did not suggest substituting creationism for evolution. I am happy saying that there are various theories of how the human race developed, that nobody really knows, and that here are several of the theories.

And evolution IS a theory. There is some evidence to support the theory; there is some evidence that is very awkward to explain away. There have been many scientific theories posited during the past several thousand years. Some have been proved correct; many (even most) have not, but have been replaced by new theories. What I object to is teaching evolution as though it were absolute fact, like (as Chuzz would argue) that 2 + 2 = 4. IMO those who promote it as unquestionable fact (often as adamately as those who argue for pure creationism) do so because they are so uncomfortable with the possibility that God had something to do with the development of the human species that they insist on a purely scientific explanation (as though God couldn't work scientifically).
