Pruguy- Hope you got a good nights sleep, after Steve's answer.

Good luck in your Studies of DSL Companies.....

If you'll notice This Thread was started in Dec. 95., The heart's and Sole's of the thread are always here, and will help you in anyway we can, should you desire to go beyond your potential in your understanding of DSL Companies.

By now you probably been using xdsl.com
If not this is essential.

AMATI LIVES ! Being a wholly owned subsidiary of Texas Instruments.
Investing in TI is investing in Amati Communications Corp.

Amati developed and Patented the Discrete Multitione Line Code, which is now the International Standard. It was'nt always that way, There was a Dark Force known as Carrierless amplitude modulation by AT&T Paradyn. After researching how both Line Codes work, I soon (Jan 96) Invested in Amati and it's DMT. I didn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out the differences and understand DMT was Far Superior.

Pat Mudge a very astute member of the Thread, and I did In-depth research on DSL when there was but a handful information on DSL on the Net.

There are dozens of members on this thread who have intimate knowledge of DSL and the Companies who tout a technology which will change the world. ADSL by supplying those poor soles who are not served by a Cable company. Let's see that leaves 9.988 of the world. VDSL pumping down a twisted pair will give you 52Mb of bandwidth, connecting to in my view point would be Single Stands of Fiber laid out from the Central Office (CO) Fiber Spokes of a wagon wheel, Each Spoke of the wheel ending at Equipment Box, most likely containing DSLAM among other things. This Connecting in to the Twisted Pair Phone lines running up to a mile away from the Equipment box. Anyone with in a 1 mile radius can have 52Mb, for Data and or VOD, Telephone, try imagine the uses.

I like to think of the mass of lines running though Neighborhoods as a Spider Web, and isn't it much easier and economical in the above scenario, than laying Fiber to everyone.

Gee it appears I'm rambling on, and you maybe falling back to sleep.

If you didn't know about XDSL.com, there's enough there to keep you busy, you can find out what everyone in DSL is doing though the huge database of press releases on DSL Companies.

Who's the Best, who's the Future Leader, for me it's TI, not just for their DSL, but they are the leader in DSP's, and have around 65% of the World Market.

Why invest here? The Discrete Signal Processor (DSP) is currently where the Micro Processor was in 1984, it has a whole long new future ahead of it.

Don't believe me, read some of Tom Engibous's Speeches on TI's Web Site.

Here's a Sample ti.com

But Tom has some excellent Speeches if you Dig around 1997.

Should you desire to know more about the Line Code that drives DSL, See Why DMT for ADSL members.tripod.com

and WHY SDMT for VDSL members.tripod.com

Sleep Well Pruguy, Amati Lives on in every ADSL Line, and knowing that Amati safe in their building doing their R&D in California, to take DSL to a Higher Plain.

One last thing, here are a few Amati Press releases.
