Considerable re-engineering takes time. So what? With whom are they racing? With whom are they racing? You know darn well with whom they are racing. With every other form of internet service at every possible bandwidth. In the real world the power of the brand is everything. You want people to think "cablecompany@home" when they think internet. That comes because his neighbor has @home, his brother has @home, his boss has @home,.... What if they all have DSL from the phone company first? Were you not the one intensely upset that Malone chose to stop the upgrades at TCI? Why is regulation needed? What is the purpose of regulation? You know the answer to this too. Without regulation it cant be "fair". People want "fair", so they have to define it formally and then enforce it. The answers to these are so obvious that I suspect I'm missing your point completely. It is ridiculous to assert that cable does not compete with DSL or wireless or any other form of internet access. Eric
