RTev,

Have you done any uploading?

Pulled this off the cable modem newsgroup. I would think this could become an issue for @Home, I don't like it that I'm being punished for some idiots running web servers. Go after them not me!

Check out whizcomp1.webjump.com and read the memo that was
sent to all MSOs regarding the bandwidth caps. Pay close attention to how
they repeatedly make excuses and tell their representatives to NOT speak of
the cap to customers unless absolutely necessary. Customers should be
informed of this limitation before purchasing service. It is horrible that
they are treating us this way. Do they even realize that the download
speeds get limited to 16k/s while uploading? Well, surprise @home.. your
"ONAdvantage" strategy at keeping the downlink speeds "blazingly fast" by
limiting abusers DOESNT WORK. I tried sending an email attachment this
morning of a powerpoint slideshow. While it was slowly uploading, I figured
I'd "surf" the web a bit.... too bad it took nearly 4 minutes just to load
the custom @Home "www" page.

Check that site out... make as many people as you can aware of this.

If @Home 1) Was honest about this, and 2) Implemented a MUCH more logical
'abuse protection' scheme (uhm for starters that would include NOT limiting
DOWNSTREAM while uploading.. another may be some sort of dynamic upstream
limit based on overall system usage -- if the node is relatively inactive,
why not let my powerpoint slideshow fly to the server as quickly as it
should?)

Once again, whizcomp1.webjump.com .. the memo is off one of
the links. Special thanks to CD for somehow obtaining the memo and hosting
this website.
