Speaking of which--how about Affymetrix, maybe not a Gorilla, but it seems to fit the description of King (market leader) for gene chips, and maybe probe arrays (?).
Here is a post to give folks on this thread a feel for what you can do with this stuff Message 8195304
I realize that biotechnology investing is not fashionable--the subject rarely comes up on this thread. But I should think there is a place for a few more gorillas in biotech--besides just Amgen and Biogen.
And we know that big pharma would like to fill up their pipelines--there is certainly room in the neurobiological area for better drugs, and cancer certainly has not been licked yet. What I like about biotech, is that there are so many possibilities for that "discontinuous innovation".
Thread: Please don't interpret this message to mean that I want to in any way make a case for selling the big tech stocks, merely suggesting that bioTech is also interesting. For the longest time I argued against owning MSFT or DELL, well, I was wrong. I admit it. I never loaded Linux on my PC, I scrapped OS/2 long ago, and with W95 the only reasonable platform for PC gaming, I've nowhere to go. I may load Red Hat after I buy the new Playstation, but until then, I am most certainly not here to argue against owning the big techs that everbody loves. For sure, I'm not buying them, but I certainly cannot say that they suck... |
