Re: Mavica

Of course it will not go away. The Mavica is the only digital camera on the market that even the most novice of computer users can use without any training. It is the only digital camera on the market that can exchange data with any computer--even the most basic $500 model--without any special add-ons or cabling. And it is the only digital camera on the market that uses "film" that costs 20-cents a unit which one can give away to friends without a second thought knowing that they can use it to read the pictures no matter what computer they own.

To be perfectly honest, the Mavica takes a fine picture for average computer and web-page viewing--certainly a far superior result than taking a polaroid and scanning it with a cheap scanner. The higher resolutions are actually overkill, and the medium resolutions allow for about 30 pictures per diskette. Sure it has plenty of drawbacks, but the mass market isn't about catering to the photography buff or the semi-professional hobbyist.
