With some of these kids, it's gotten further out of hand than that. I regret to say. True story, according to a cop friend of mine. They picked up a 9 year old kid at about 9:30 at night shoplifting. Took him home. Mom was watching TV. Cop said we picked your son up for shoplifting. She said, the cop swore to God it's true, "Can't you see I'm busy watching [name of show]? Take him to jail and I'll come get him when I need him for something."
