I don't think it is a conspiracy on the part of the media to misrepresent inflation, I just think they are all Liberal Arts Majors who flunked econ 101.

I doubt that many of them took Econ 101. :) Seriously, a couple of years ago a company's CFO (possibly from Citrix but I'm not sure) made a presentation at an analysts' conference. He reiterated that he expected declining operating margins, something that should have been expected by all analysts and investors if for no other reason than it was about the umpteenth time he had said it. A reporter left the conference and put it on the news wires, causing the stock to tank.

In response to the newswire, the CFO responded that this was not new information, that it had been public for at least six months. One of my online buddies called the reporter and asked if she knows what an operating margin is. You know the answer without me telling you.

Our biggest asset the last 10 years has been Greenspan...

Has it been ten years already? I'd say that our biggest asset is to have Al Volker and Alan Greenspan as the two consecutive heads of the Fed. I get terrified every time we get wind of Congress thinking of taking control of the Fed.
