"The Italian news agency ANSA reported that three Serb civilians were killed in a shootout with members of the Kosovo Liberation Army near Pec, where Italian peacekeeping troops were trying to disarm the guerrillas.

The Garibaldi Brigade had by late afternoon seized 32 Kalashnikov rifles, 10 grenade launchers and several other weapons from KLA guerrillas who offered no resistance, ANSA said.

However, tension arose when the Italian contingent sought to disarm guerrillas looting a Serb supermarket..."
