Hey, wait a minute, can we back up for a second?

Let's take a look at one war that kind of illustrates the complexities of the issues involved: World War I. Most of the soldiers who went to fight in that war believed that Kaiser Wilhelm had to be stopped; they and their families back home in the United States and Canada believed it was a just war.

Today, we look back and see how much more complex the origins of the war were and that it was not a simple matter of German aggression.
