Please find me a dictionary definition of religion used this way. It is precisely this failure to understand what religion is that has been at the root of at least some of what has gone on on this thread. If we're going to get back to talking critically and rationally (are you listening, X?<g>) we have to use the English language properly, not distort it to fit our prejudices. A belief in a secular idea, no matter how passionate, is NOT a religion. (If it were, Chuzz would be one of the most religious guys on this thread, given his passionate belief in logic which eclipses even the passion most of the Russians or Chinese ever showed for communism. But he would certainly be challenged by Joan's passion for grammar . . . Nah. Let's let religion mean what it means, not try to blame it for communism, scientificism, etc.
