I wouldn't let Wilson -- or Mary McCarthy either, for that matter -- "set my intellectual or literary horizons."

Mysteries have always left me cold, and I was delighted, when I ran across Wilson's essay for the first time, to find that someone else felt the same way I did.

Let us just say that I am a born snob, and so did not need Wilson to educate me in the Art and Practice of Snobbery. <gg>
