So, then, I calculate that since 6/06/99, 14 days have elapsed and 196,867 messages have been posted, a average of 14,062 per day. This seems to be a sizeable drop off from the recent pace.

Also, statistics on posting activity measure nothing more than posting activity; they do not tell us whether or not a website has gotten boring. Perhaps a site with this many members that was sizzling with excitement and new features would have 50,000 posts a day. I'm not saying posting activity is irrelevant, but that it cannot supply the ultimate answer to this somewhat subjective question.
