your advice stinks, no offense intended.

Buying on weakness (aka trying to time the bottom) has done severe damage to my portfolio. Often a stock will never recover from a large drop and your money can be tied up for years waiting and hoping.

Some themes that I now follow (having learned the costly way):

Cut your losses short.

Never buy on weakness.
There is a reason for continued weakness.

Buy into strength. As Peter Lynch once noted: it a stock is going to $100 then does it really matter if you buy at $5, $10 or $25?
