Yes, pezz, we are sensitive souls, who want the best for our country and our fellow man. We believe in capitalism because it is the best way to create widespread abundance, and break down barriers of class and ethnicity. We believe in vouchers so that less affluent parents will have a chance to help their children. We believe in welfare reform because of the "moral hazards" involved in the former system. We believe in federalism because one- size- fits all solutions are inane, and it is inefficient to send money to Washington to be administered by superfluous layers of bureaucracy. We believe in encouraging two- parent homes, and attentive parents, because of the strong correlation between fatherlessness and various social ills. Many of us believe in affirmative action of the "outreach" sort, but despise quotas, which are artificial, place too many in situations with which they cannot deal, and exacerbate suspicions and resentments against the beneficiaries, while doing little to encourage improvement within the affected group. We favor religion, because it is "moralizing": not only does it encourage good behavior, but encourages people to believe that life has meaning, and that they can ask for aid from a "higher power" to get their own lives in order. I will not go on, since you will have plenty to mock already, but the very fact that you cannot see that infanticide is a horrific topic is a good demonstration of where your head is... |
