Leading Industry Analysts Recognize Inbound Supply Chain Management as Best Practice Manufacturing Application
Industry analysts proclaim inbound supply chain management one of the most
important enterprise applications of the decade
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Aspect Development, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASDV) today released the keynote materials and presentations that were delivered at its inaugural Inbound Supply Chain Summit, held April 25 - 28 in Palm Springs, Calif., attesting to the phenomenal demand and growth potential for the new market. Industry analysts presenting to the more than 600 executives attending the conference included Dave Burdick, vice president of Gartner Group; Jim Shepherd, vice president of Research at AMR Research; Barry Wilderman, vice president of Meta Group; Harry Tse of the Yankee Group; Alan Mendel of CIMdata and Jack Maynard of Aberdeen Group.
"Aspect has hit on what Aberdeen believes will be one of the hottest enterprise application areas of the next decade: Inbound Supply Chain Management," said Jack Maynard, senior analyst at Aberdeen Group. ISCM will save manufacturers billions of dollars -- dollars that go directly to the bottom line. How well an enterprise is able to execute the management of the inbound supply chain may well be the line of demarcation between profitability and bankruptcy."
Component and Supplier Management (CSM) technology is used to streamline manufacturing inbound supply, allowing companies to design products more efficiently and buy parts and supplies more efficiently. The benefits are typically measured in hundreds of millions of dollars saved by large manufacturers. Aspect Development has pioneered the market, and is the leading worldwide provider of inbound supply chain management solutions.
"Why is CSM the best supply chain opportunity for many manufacturers?" asked Jim Shepherd of AMR Research in his keynote address. "It's the only application that incorporates product design into the supply chain; its impact on the downstream supply chain is profound, the return on investment is very fast, and the benefits are easy to measure." Shepherd added, "it is the REAL opportunity in supply chain management."
"CSM is a killer enterprise application," said Dave Burdick of the Gartner Group, citing its ability to save up to 15% on cost of goods for typical manufacturers, and shorten time-to-market. "CSM solutions are in Gartner Group's sweet spot of applications, yielding very high return on investment with one of the shortest implementation times of any major application."
In addition to industry analysts, Aspect Summit presentations included best practice leaders from IBM, Emerson, Celestica, Occidental Chemical, Hewlett-Packard, 3Com, Motorola, Ingersoll-Rand, and Dana Corporation; as well as industry partners SAP, Metaphase, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Ernst & Young. Video highlights of Summit presentations will be made available by CD to Summit participants and interested companies.
