Never out of touch
Now there's another reason to bring a cellular phone along on a business trip. New technology allows calls to the traveler's hotel room to be forwarded automatically to the guest's cell phone. The Peninsula Hotel in Manhattan recently installed the service called ''Wireless Room Connect.'' A guest who arrives with a cell phone can get hooked up by putting the phone number for his or her unit into the system. When the room phone rings, the cell phone rings at the same time. When the guest answers on the cell phone an audio message announces that the call is one coming into the room. At that point the guest who is out of the room can either answer or ignore the call. In the latter case the call then goes in the room's voice mail. The hotel charges 95 cents a minute for calls taken on cell phones that have been routed from the room.
