C - Cube Microsystems Inc., Milpitas, Calif., said its subsidiary, DiviCom Inc., has been selected to provide digital encoders for Time Warner Cable's new cable-television system.
DiviCom 's digital encoders, which are to be installed in Time Warner's existing digital set top, will make it possible for the cable company to "combine existing analog cable programming with a new tier of digital services," the company said. "The Time-Warner deal is certainly a big boost for C-Cube ," said Dan Scovel, an analyst with Fahnestock & Co. Inc., New York.
