Scott, Re. The PC will win the battle against server-based computing, Microsoft will remain an immovable force in the operating system wars and broadband communications will bring the electronic commerce industry to full fruition.

Is the above a direct quote from Mr. Dell, or someone's opinion of what he might mean? IMHO the PC will win the war against thin clients as Mike has stated. However, it seems to me that the internet itself is server-based. Will PCs be winning the war against the internet? MSFT Is hardly an immovable force in high end servers. In fact, MSFT is desperately trying to supplant UNIX, MVS and other operating systems actually being run on high end servers. NT is NOT running on high end servers such as SUN and IBM's S/390 & RS6000 & AS 400.

I have "bet" a very high percentage of my portfolio that DELL and IBM are going to do well in the future, in large part because of server based computing. A significant part of Dell's current strategy seems to be based on the assumption that servers are the future. Scott
