I do sympathize, really.

Your suggestion, to keep the cats indoors, doesn't work if you have outdoor cats, which I do. When the weather is nice, they only come inside to eat kibble, and take a nap on the sofa, and go back outside. I wish they didn't eat the songbirds. I wish I didn't have so many cats. I take very good care of them, and they are probably going to live years, and kill many birds. But I am not going to have my cats gassed, and they won't stay inside. To have indoor cats, you must keep them inside to begin with. They won't change now.
