BBL of F/T diesel was selling for $7.00 premium over crude in CA for blending before the Sasol plant providing them was destroyed in accident - about 1 yr ago, I think.
Longer term DOE premium estimates closer to $3.50, but strictly a WAG.
Value to refiners (after 2004 diesel standards go into effect) will vary widely (depending on their feedstock quality).
More important for this company MAY be stranded gas, where GTL may not be "economic" in narrow sense, but may be cheapest way to recover the gas, which is increasingly a regulatory requirement.
You might find spot prices on these products from a S.A. plant, but it seems unlikely they will be of predictive value more than a few months out.
These observations from a DOE workshop a couple weeks ago in Anchorage.
