It sounds terrible but sometimes I think that I'm lucky in some ways that that part is behind me (both parents dead). Another source of tension is hitting menopause as our children hit their teens, which happens lots more than it did in our parents' generation. Speaking of which- I went to a health food store today and bought Black Cohash and yam extract and chaste berry. The owner did this weird thing: he had me put my index finger and thumb together, then he tried to pull them apart. Then I had to put my other hand on my head, and he tried to pull my fingers apart again. Then I had to hold a bottle of the herbs to my chest and he pulled my fingers apart. Then I held them all at once. And THEN for his finale, he gave me a bottle to hold and my fingers came apart so easily! The bottle was some herb for men over 50. So I didn't need that one. Now how did he DO that!!!! It was all very mystical and magical and mysterious. It would have been neater if he'd had a long black cowled robe and a tonsure, with new age music in the background, but he was this older, pleaasant man in brown polyester pants. But maybe it will work anyway.
