Why MSFT and CSCO will continue to dominate.

Bill Gates and company have been very busy over the past 6 months
positioning Microsoft to continue its dominance well into the future. For example, it made a deal with ATT to put its Windows CE operating system on cable boxes. Cable boxes represent the future of broadband internet access. It made a $650 million investment in NEXTEL , a wireless firm to have influence over wireless data access. It will provide information from its MSN internet portal to Nextel's wireless customers. It also made substantial investments in 2 of Europes leading cable companies. Lastly, it recently launched it's Office 2000 desktop applications, which has been getting good reviews and will ensure their cash cow continues to grow.

Regarding Cisco, it's their management team is the key differenciator
CSCO's product dominance is fueled by a management team dedicated to
executing acquisitions swiftly and effectively. Essentially they use strategic acquisitions as an unusually strong method of R&D. Not only to they acquire lots of leading companies, but what's interesting is their effectiveness in integrating them into the CSCO product pipeline quickly. This not only enhances CSCO's market dominance and product
quality, but supplies an impressive method to acquire key personnel from the newly bought companies. The difference with CSCO is these new employees are treated as valuable assets from the day they join the company. Chambers is a genius.

I'm long on CSCO & MSFT!
