I asked edig to summarize the major advantages it has vis a vis other competetiors. The following is my attempt to outline those advantages:

There are several different flash memory compression software systems including MPG3, EPAC, Microsoft and others. The edig Micro OS file management system is a very useful addition to any of the above compression because it makes them faster and much more flexible.

Any flash memory system that uses only a single compression system could possibly get by without the Micro OS ; however because the SDMI is very unlikely to chose one compression system to be acceptable [they are more interested in solid encryption and watermarking]the electronics industry will be driven to use Micro OS as it is the only file management system which can handle multiple compression systems. Any player worth its salt will have several compression systems as part of the player so that the consumer will not be bothered with what player is compatible with what downloading compression system.

Edig has 2 competetiors which are both very hardware intensive thus more cumbersome and I assume more expensive.

Finally Microsoft OS is necessary for any flash memory system which attempts to perform more than one function eg. text to voice plus voice to text plus......

Electronics manufactuors like working with edig because not only because of what I have outlined above, but because edig is very deep in flash memory engineering having been in the field for years. And of course there is that little matter of multiple patents.

Hope my commentary is not too garbled or inaccurate. I have tried my best to relay it as I think I heard it. I would appreciate comments if it seems I have misunderstood any of the basic issues.
