CMGI to Invest in BizBuyer.com ANDOVER, Mass. -- CMGI Inc. said its venture-capital division will invest $5 million in a Web company that allows small businesses to put purchasing requests onto the Internet for bid by vendors. The investment by its affiliate in BizBuyer.com of Santa Monica, Calif., is aimed at the fast-growing business-to-business electronic-commerce market. BizBuyer.com is now testing its service and will officially launch this year. The company has received only $1 million in seed financing since its founding last fall, but one of its better-known investors include Meg Whitman, chief executive officer of eBay Inc.
