I haven't been religiously looking, but I've only seen one LMDS contract go to Nortel, the rest to NN. And the NOrtel win was "in the family", so it's somewhat suspect.

NN is obviously first into the space with a production quality product. Now that Alan has put in place a completely professional marketing and sales force, I suspect that this advantage will be fully exploited. Being first into any space with a superiour product frequently is an overwhelming advantage.

Somewhat offtopic to your post:

I think the speculation that NN's moves are more related to takeover rumours than fundamentals is somewhat misguided. The street is well aware that Terry had the opportunity to sell out to LU but chose to 'take his chances' in the marketplace instead.

Why, given the obvious huge success with his ATM and LMDS products, would he take a lesser company's paper now that the success is becoming obvious to even the most shortsighted?

Besides, if I allowed myself to believe that the run up was takeover related, I'd be forced to sell when the takeover didn't happen. ...and that would cost me bigtime. ;-)

Ian.
