It's also important to point out that these big dishes are NOT providing internet data to cable systems, just video content.

The internet data enters the cable system on the ground via fiber optics which is totally immune to weather, sun spots, and etc...

So you should still get data even when the CNN bird goes down, but you still have to worry about "backhoe fade". <g>
