It's impossible to draw that conclusion because we have no baseline numbers as to how much crime would occur if the populace were more likely to carry guns.

The best "simple experiment" we have are states in this country where the broader right to carry a licensed concealed handgun was recently established. Those numbers tell a story you wouldn't like.
