A bunch of small divided nations are much more easily controlled than one large one. Remember, the JNA (Yugoslavian Army) was the 4th largest in Europe back in 1990. It is nothing more than Imperialism, 1990's style.
According to the above opinion of yours, the US should instigate the break-up of Turkey!! (And, incidentally, foster the creation of a Kurdish State). Because, nowadays, no European army comes close to Turkey's, quantitatively speaking at least. If Turkey would be allowed to build a couple of flattops, along with a nuclear submarine or two... then she'd dwarf both France and the UK! |
