TRIBUNE ACQUIRES ACADEMIC SOFTWARE, A LEADING PROVIDER OF ONLINE SERVICES TO COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES CHICAGO, Jun 22, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Tribune Company has acquired Academic Software, Inc. (ASI), a privately held company that provides automation tools to college and university career centers. ASI offers a line of software products that facilitate online interaction among students, career centers and employers. ASI, based in Austin, Texas, will become a business unit of Tribune Interactive. Terms were not disclosed. In September, ASI will launch Econnect, a Web-based product that enables schools to create campus-specific intranet sites that help students and alumni find jobs. Econnect allows a career center to link students and recent graduates with employers seeking entry-level and early-career job candidates.
