So will I, but, a few good contracts and the goats will lose their beards and be heros again. Perhaps this is one step in the right direction -
BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA – June 22, 1999 - Group West Systems Ltd. is pleased to announce the recent installation of a new IBM AS/400 and a new IBM Netfinity server at Granny's Poultry Co-operative (Manitoba) Ltd. The AS/400 platform will be used for "line-of-business" applications including customer order processing and fulfillment, inventory control, logistics, EDI, shop-floor data collection, real-time RF-based shipping, sales analysis, and financial processing and analysis. The Netfinity platform provides support for desktop applications, desktop management, and both corporate- and Internet-based e-mail. These installations support Granny's long-term Information Systems Strategic Plan - a plan which was mutually developed by Granny's and the Winnipeg Division of Group West. Granny's Poultry is the second largest meat processor in Manitoba, employing approximately 400 people. In the past five years alone, sales have increased by $44 million. A major expansion of the processing plant has been initiated in order to accommodate this incredible growth and ensure quality production keeps pace with sales.
Since 1992, Group West has shared an “outsourcing” arrangement with Granny's Poultry and been involved in their dynamic business growth. Group West has custom developed and supported their order processing, production and costing systems as well as supported their technological architecture. This long-term partnership will continue into the new millennium as Granny's Poultry plans to work with Group West in the development of new business applications systems and networking systems.
Wayne Morrison, General Manager of Granny's Poultry commented, “Group West has been an important outsourcing partner over the past 7 years. As our company has achieved significant growth, this pipeline to experienced technical support is very important to us.”
