I had resisted the urge to comment on this sooner because I still considered the information sensitive. Now that many have issued press releases on the subject, it seems OK to speak.

That definitely appears to be the direction for the industry. I don't get the impression that there are many great believers in the pure "cellphone" model right now (aka freepc.com), but there's a lot of interest in enhancing the PC experience by bundling service providers, dedicated keypad and shortcuts, etc. The idea generally to make the PC as internet-friendly as possible, and in a way that steers customers towards providers who pay us for it...

Interestingly, this fact isn't lost on AOL. They pay to be highlighted on HP PCs as well...
