Well, today obviously is a reaction to the IBM announcement...but really, it should be considered an overreaction....everyone knew this was coming (IBM's SAN response)...and I think the market, at least temporarily, is selling EMC a bit short here....it is one thing to announce product introductions, another to take share away, execute, etc...

By today's market logic, IBM should also dominate Dell, Compaq, etc. in PCs (since they are a major supplier/competitor)..as many know, IBM loss a billion dollars selling PCs last year..

IMO, looking again long-term, it is good to get the announcement out in one fell swoop...perhaps, Ruettgers needs to go on CNBC (once again) and repeat the same mantra (10B in 2001) AGAIN, as a counter-weight...probably only those really close to industry understand the incestuous (sp?) relationships that paradoxically exist (and thrive)..

Now, hopefully, "big" announcements by IBM are over, and it is time to put up or shut up on the quarterly income statments....this is better turf battle for EMC..
