Jenna: By user moderated I meant the ability to lock out members from public post on a thread, but allow all not on that list to post. Obviously this should be use responsibly and may need some management oversight, but it would be great to have that option.

I don't think reasonable contributors mind cordial and respectful contrary opinions. Heck, I think it is necessary to have a good thread. But cordial and respectful is the key coupled with a level of competence.
