CH4......The temperature caused by gasoline during combustion in a engine and the operating temperature of a SOFC have nothing to do with each other....The heat is used to strip hydrogen out of a fossil fuel. Methanol appears not to need much heat...but a road block to using gasoline has been the amount of heat required to reform it....A number of company's are making progress on a separate reformer...that strips hydrogen out of gasoline for use in PEM fuel cells. The advantage of the high operating temperature of a SOFC is that this heat may be used to strip hydrogen out of gasoline inside the cell without the additional reformer you will need with a PEM......What methanol plants are you talking about....Methanex?..In Canada? Right now Methanol is a favourite for Pem fuel cells but their are other more suitable choices available......On the Ballard board on Yahoo I have a number of posts in regards to Methanol and F-T diesel which is also made from natural gas. This technology is called "gas to liquids"....The posts were on June 19th or 20th.......raisin
