Your scenario would certainly leapfrog BLS into the LD business. However, ego plays a part here, and although I have a good feel for what drives Nacchio, I don't know much about the BLS' managers. If the BLS operation reflects their attitudes, the culture differences in such a merger could make WW2 look like a walk in the park.

Could it be like the bumper sticker I once saw, that read "HEAVEN DOESN'T WANT ME, AND HELL IS AFRAID I'LL TAKE OVER?" I don't see Nacchio accepting any co-managing role--total control is his style. Would BLS go for that?
