Unless I missed seeing it in the media, Nacchio has not spelled out any compelling reasons for taking over FRO and USW. The drop in QWST's price reflects investors and Wall Streets disapproval of the move. If this is so and the strategy is faulty, then I agree with you that the premium offered is excessive.

However, if Nacchio has a vision that we laymen fail to grasp, then he is not overpaying.

I thought that Bernie Ebbers of WCOM had gone bonkers when he snatched MCI from other suitors and paid what I thought was an obscene price, but I hung on to my long position and even added more. His judgement was vindicated. Now we investors in QWST have to decide if Nacchio has vision and a Grand Plan which he can execute to enrich us all, or has his EGO trumped his 'smarts'.

As others have pointed out, this game isn't over yet, so I personally will hang in there and watch it play out. It worked for me with WCOM, maybe I can be twice lucky.

LOL,
Robert S. Sheldon
