Paul-san I believe this (autction) is about 'asset recovery & disposition', as you know a lot of Dell's machines are leased to businesses and some to consumers,this 'consumer auction service' should provide a profitable venue for the company to get rid of them rather quickly, efficiently and profitably so that they can sell more new machines.Just a thought.
