I think a lot of people are looking for the magic words that earnings will be great and that they have landed some big contracts. I think earnings will be decent (12 cents 16 cents, 19 cents for the next three quarters), and I think they will land some big contracts.

However, the magic words that I am looking for is that they will start to own their own fiber. This stock will become a completely different entity if they make such an announcement, and as MFNX shows, near term earnings will become irrelevant.

Yes, I think there is a decent chance they will do this. More and more government agencies are realizing that they can fit new fiber into their budgets if they allow the group laying the fiber to keep some of it for themselves.

The following is a link from another thread that does not mention IFCI, but it does give you a better impression of the sort of game that companies like MFNX are playing. They are increasing their debt by putting in low bids, as long as they get to keep some of the fiber.

Obviously the street is rewarding this, and I have no doubts that IFCI management is aware of this approach to bidding on fiber contracts. I also have no doubts that those advising IFCI are aware what this would do to their stock.

IFCI has the rare manpower and expertise to lay their own fiber. What they would need is a good deal of financing. Who knows, maybe some group like Oppenheimer would agree to help in finding the financing, in return for coverage ....

P.S. When I was watching, those picking up shares on the bid today included
FACT (First Albany)
BRUS (HD Brous)
and regulars like
MASH
FAHN
HRZG
NITE

JPTC, CIBC and NEED were a bit off the bid appearing to pick up shares on the dip below 8

MHMY (MH Meyerson) was on the Ask at 8 1/32 when I looked.

Interestingly, I did not see CRUT (Cruttenden Roth) near the bid or the ask
